The Quandong Farmer

Robert Tavian’s passion for the Santalum Quandong ignited as a young child walking to school picking and eating the ripe tart red fruit off neighbours trees that would hang over their fences onto the footpaths. His taste buds, passion for the native fruit and interest to create good quality foods grew with him. 

When the Quandong Farm went on the market in 2008, Rob saw it as an opportunity to turn his passion into a hobby and continue creating goods and treats from the farm’s produce. 

When Rob is on the farm, you’ll find him cooking delicious batches of jams, chutneys and sauces and baking mouth-watering pies.

When he’s not creating yummy products, he's out in the field picking fruit or expanding his orchid. You'll also find him at the local Broken Hill Community market each month where you can try free tastings of his delicious goods and treats.
